'Brooklyn Nine-Nine' saved from cancellation after outrage from fans

Despite the fact that it's the weekend, an Andy Samberg-shaped cloud was hanging over all of us with the news that Fox made a decision to pull the plug on Brooklyn Nine-Nine after the current fifth series.

Fox is known as the network least afraid to incur fan's wrath, canceling several cult favorite shows over the years including Firefly, Arrested Development, Undeclared, and Futurama.

That didn't take long: A day after being canceled at FOX, "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" has gotten a second lease on life thanks to NBC. Although some say it was the fans themselves at fault for not watching the show.

After the news broke that the show's future was in jeopardy, a quick Twitter search for the hashtags #SaveB99 and #RenewB99 will show you just how much love there is for the show.

Goor also thanked "the best fans in the history of the world", while Melissa Fumero said: "You did this!"

Melissa Fumero, who plays Amy Santiago on the show, shared a GIF as well.

The cast members of the show also announced the news on their personal Twitter handles. We are so grateful for our fans.

"NBC IS PICKING UP BROOKLYN 99 for SEASON 6!" You did this! You got loud and you were heard and you saved our show!

And now one network has taken up the suggestion, with U.S. network NBC - who already had a stake in the series thanks to its NBC Universal production arm - reviving the series just one day after it was cancelled.
