Woods driving well, birdies 3rd hole at Masters

Woods driving well, birdies 3rd hole at Masters

Tom Watson rolled back the years at The Masters on Wednesday, going round Augusta's Par 3 course in just 21 shots to become the oldest victor in history at 68 years old.

But a hole in one from six-time masters victor Jack Nicklaus' grandson, Gary junior, which brought down the house. It sounds like the final hole at Amen Corner is going to get a little longer and at least one golfer says hallelujah. "But I couldn't think of a more special place to do it".

One of the great traditions in the Masters Par 3 Contest is players letting loved ones play a shot in front of the massive galleries.

"It's the Watson of old", joked Watson, who won two of his eight major championships at Augusta National.

"I've been amazed at how well he has come back", Nicklaus said, per ESPN's Bob Harig.

"It's awful. We used to play The Open, and we would play in about two hours and 20 minutes or two hours and 25 minutes", Nicklaus said.

Watson would have damaged his chances to win another Masters when he was the surprising victor of the contest at 6-under par on Wednesday.

Commonwealth Games: Ghana's Kente Steals Show At Opening Ceremony
Wednesday night's Opening Ceremony at the Carrara Stadium was widely criticised as being "cringeworthy" and "underwhelming". Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, during the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games .

"You want the best for your grandkids", Nicklaus said. "My wins, that's OK, but to have your grandson make a hole-in-one and watch him do it - man, that's unbelievable".

The four-time Masters champion is far from concerned. Nicklaus hit the fairway, too, but couldn't quite catch up with Player's shot.

Finau seeminly dislocated his ankle and then looked to pop it back in after he twisted it while running in celebration after sinking his tee shot for a hole in one of.

When GT Nicklaus hit the shot to the 135-yard hole, he seemed to know it was good immediately, twirling his club and then watching as it hit the green, trickled back toward the hole and ever-so-slowly dropped into the cup.

So, I've had the jacket for a day-and-a-half, and we're doing all the different shows, the stock exchange and Bloomberg and everywhere.

"I mean, I didn't even want to believe in went in".
