Trump & Hannity's 'fair and balanced' hush money lawyer

Trump & Hannity's 'fair and balanced' hush money lawyer

It came as a shock when it was revealed that Trump personal lawyer Michael Cohen's third anonymous client is none other than Fox News' Sean Hannity.

Speaking on his Fox show last Monday, Hannity expressed similar sentiments, warning the raid represented a "dangerous phase" of Mueller's probe. "I assumed those conversations were confidential, but to be absolutely clear they never involved any matter between me and a third-party".

After offering his initial statements on Cohen, Hannity returned to Twitter late Monday afternoon to provide some detail, saying that his "de minimis discussions with Michael Cohen" had been "almost exclusively about real estate".

To be clear, Hannity should have disclosed any ties or "advice" he was getting from Michael Cohen before assailing the Federal Bureau of Investigation for raiding Cohen's offices.

Case closed, right?! Not so fast.

A spokesperson for Fox News did not immediately respond to questions from NBC News about the relationship between Hannity and Cohen.

Cohen's legal team said he had just three clients in 2017 and 2018.

That revelation nudged the conservative commentator into the orbit of those who have lately come under legal scrutiny related to the investigations of Trump and his associates by the special counsel, Robert Mueller, and the US attorney's office in Manhattan.

"Among those on the list was our friend, Sean Hannity in the hour after ours".

VirnetX shares surge as jury says Apple infringed patents
Bloomberg reports that a grand jury found Apple guilty of infringing on patents related to secure communications. A recent jury awarded $302M in a case involving older Apple devices; a judge increased that amount to $429.7M.

"I understand if he doesn't want his name out there, but that's not enough under the law", Judge Wood said, before ordering the name disclosed. "What do you think about that?'" Of course, Hannity mentioned neither the popular AMC series or its spinoff, Better Call Saul by name, but he didn't have to. "One of the anchors at the major pro-Trump news network has had an undisclosed relationship with the president's lawyer all this time, while Fox has not told that to its audience and while Mr. Hannity and Mr. Cohen have apparently spent considerable effort trying to keep that relationship secret".

He also said he had never received an invoice or paid legal fees for the lawyer's services.

Numerous personalities latching on to this most recent claim also went to the mat for other outlandish ideas, including the inexplicably prominent PizzaGate yarn that held Trump's 2016 rival Hillary Clinton was involved in a pedophile ring run out of the basement a Washington, D.C. pizzeria (the restaurant has no basement). But, the President of the United States was already a client! "But I think it would have been much, much better had you disclosed that relationship".

On Monday, Sean Hannity walked himself right into an awkward comparison.

It is unusual but not unprecedented for criminal investigators to seize documents from a lawyer, and there is a policy in place created to shield information covered by attorney-client privilege.

Take it out of the political context.

On Comedy Central, "The Daily Show" host Trevor Noah said Hannity's actions are shady, even for him. Every third appearance I find a way to work in the fact that Potbelly makes a really delicious sandwich.

"But, you know, it's a complex situation when you're speaking to millions of people..." That doesn't suggest someone who is awash in cash. Was the legal work - and real estate advice - so minor that Cohen wouldn't accept money for it?

And courts have narrowly defined privilege as legal discussion between lawyer and client.
