Tesla Reaches Model 3 Production Target

Tesla Reaches Model 3 Production Target

Manufacturing of the Model 3 has been underway for nine months now, and despite spending millions on a state-of-the-art production line, Tesla is still using far more human workers per vehicle than most major competitors.

The company had planned to be producing 20,000 Model 3s a month by December 2017, but in a disappointing Q4 it shipped only 1,542.

But a series of setbacks have left Tesla far behind schedule in turning out the Model 3 - for which almost 400,000 prospective buyers have already put down $1,000 deposits - and it is taking some extraordinary measures to turn things around.

First-quarter deliveries totalled 29,980 vehicles, of which 11,730 were Model S and 10,070 were Model X. Both were lower than both the previous quarter and the year-earlier quarter. Plus 2,040 Model 3 sedans were also in transit to customers.

The joke ended finally in even worse taste, with a photo of Musk "passed out against a Tesla Model 3, surrounded by "Teslaquilla" bottles, the tracks of dried tears still visible on his cheeks".

In conclusion, the Tesla Model 3 is now officially the best-selling electric auto in the U.S. and Tesla most likely has the 3 best-selling electric cars in the US.

Trump aide communicated with ex-Russian intelligence officer during 2016 election
Dowd reportedly broached the subject of a possible pardon with Flynn's lawyer, Robert Kelner, last summer. Dowd insisted Wednesday that he did not raise the idea of pardons with lawyers representing the two men.

In November, he warned an analyst against setting his watch by his "rough target" to start Tesla vehicle production in China in about three years.

The real takeaway from the report is that unlike some of Musk's other notable successes, the vehicle industry may not have been as ripe for disruption as Tesla would have hoped.

Tesla sees progress ahead for the mass-market sedan that keeps falling short of targets and said a capital raise won't be required this year, spurring a partial rebound for the electric-car maker's battered shares. Following the release of its results for the quarter, its shares surged 7% in premarket hours, and later eased up 5% around $267 in midday trading. Jumping into the numbers, Tesla built 34,494 vehicles in its "most productive quarter" in history. "Nevertheless, we believe it is hard to be more constructive on the stock until there is greater evidence supporting when the 5k units a week can be achieved".

But because of repeated failures to meet past production milestones, credit rating agency Moody's downgraded Tesla's credit rating last week.

Tesla declined to give production figures for the week to March 31.

Elon is also increasingly under strain as he gets the Model Y into production, builds the Tesla Semi and the second-generation Roadster, completing the Supercharger network, boring tunnels underground, making solar roof tiles, and launching rockets.
