SpaceX Scheduled To Launch Cargo Mission From Cape Canaveral

SpaceX Scheduled To Launch Cargo Mission From Cape Canaveral

In the background, a thunderstorm loomed large over the mission, but thankfully allowed a flight-proven Dragon and Falcon 9 booster to squeak by on their way to orbit.

SpaceX has successfully recovered 23 first stage boosters to date, 11 on land and the rest on off-shore droneships.

"What's neat about this is that it's becoming the norm", Jensen said.

Falcon 9 B1039 completed its fourteenth Cargo Dragon (CRS-14) launch with a dramatic, Falcon Heavy-esque hard impact into the Atlantic Ocean - as an expendable mission, its goal, in this case, was to gather data on Falcon 9's performance during extreme reentry conditions.

The private company's Falcon 9 rocket fitted with a Dragon capsule blasted off from Cape Canaveral in the southern U.S. state of Florida on Monday at 4:30 p.m. local time (2030 UTC), as part of a mission to resupply the International Space Station (ISS).

Japan must avoid bilateral trade talks with U.S. : finance minister Taro Aso
Mr Kim met President Xi Jinping in China this week, his first trip overseas since taking over as North Korean leader in 2011. The Japanese government said it had been in touch with the North but declined to offer specific comment on the report.

"This one seemed like a really good opportunity to fly a trajectory a little bit out more towards the limits", Jensen told the crowd during a press briefing about the mission yesterday.

"That way our engineers can collect additional data not only during re-entry but for the landing that will be useful for the future", she said. (2,630 kilograms) of supplies and science experiments for the Expedition 55 crew, the Dragon cargo craft is scheduled to arrive at the ISS Wednesday (April 4) after a two-day orbital chase.

With the new launch of SpaceX commercial resupply on Monday 4:30 p.m. EDT, astronauts in the space soon will receive a delivery of experiments dealing with how the human body, plants, and materials behave in space.

Scientists say it will showcase technologies that could be used to clean up an estimated 7,600 tonnes of junk orbiting the Earth, ranging from old spacecraft to flecks of paint. It's expected to hit the Pacific Ocean off the coast of California. The first stage safely separated and fell back to the Earth. It will carry supplies to NASA's International Space Station, located 250 miles above Earth. The Passive Orbital Nutrient Delivery System (PONDS) arriving on Dragon uses a newly developed passive nutrient delivery system and the Veggie plant growth facility now aboard the space station to cultivate leafy greens.
