SpaceX launches 10 satellites, but Dollars 6 million nose cone crashes

SpaceX launches 10 satellites, but Dollars 6 million nose cone crashes

Following the Iridium-4 launch past year, the first stage rocket made a successful landing aboard SpaceX's West Coast Autonomous Spaceport Drone Ship (ASDS), however, it was not recovered again following its second flight on Friday.

If you want to watch the launch live, SpaceX will be streaming it via its various video portals, including YouTube.

The Space Exploration Technologies rocket roared away at 7:13 a.m. into clear skies above Space Launch Complex-4 on South Base. Friday's mission is the fifth set of 10 satellites being launched for the project.

Elon Musk tweeted on his Twitter handle about the attempt to catch the payload fairing which is the nose-cone shaped cover that protects the satellites during the flight and cost of $5 million to $6 million which is why SpaceX tried to catch it.

What makes this launch extra special is that it was carried out by a used Falcon 9 rocket.

She reported the higher elevations, particularly those in Greenbrier County, will receive the most snow. In between these features, a southwest wind flow will help to push high temperatures well into the 50s.

During the launch, SpaceX cut the feed due to restrictions from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

This is one of many missions that SpaceX is carrying out for Iridium.

"We're working with NOAA to address these restrictions in order to hopefully be able to bring you live views from orbit in the future", the SpaceX engineer said. Space.com has reached out to SpaceX and NOAA for clarification.

The satellites are expected to be deployed into low-Earth orbit about an hour after liftoff. "This time there was no attempt to recover the first stage but it was to perform a simulated landing over the ocean", said Michael Hammersley, a SpaceX materials engineer serving as launch spokesman. The Federal Communications Commission gives satellite operators six years to put most of their constellation into operation, in order to prevent companies from stockpiling unused radio spectrum.

Then Monday's launch will take place at 1:30 p.m. PT from Florida, with SpaceX's Dragon capsule making its 14th resupply run to the space station. In fact, SpaceX has sped up its process so much that officials at Iridium are forced to get the components of the satellites delivered on time so that they don't miss the launch window.
