Russia Shows Off Test-Launch Footage Of Its 'Satan 2' Long-Range Missile

Russia Shows Off Test-Launch Footage Of Its 'Satan 2' Long-Range Missile

CNBC reports that Russia's military carried out the test of the Sarmat missile system at the Plesetsk Cosmodrome, a spaceport in western Russia, while Russian intelligence tweeted out a video of the successful test.

Russian Federation tested its new intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) for the second time on Friday, the country's defense ministry said in a tweet.

Dubbed a "powerful and modern" system by Russian President Vladimir Putin earlier this month, the Sarmat system is meant to have a worldwide rage, and to be able to bypass any current missile defense system. In response, the Kremlin announced it would expel 60 American diplomats and close the us consulate in St. Petersburg, Fox News reported. The first took place towards the end of previous year.

Russian Aerospace Forces successfully tested the air-launched Kinzhal hypersonic missile.

Putin has made much of developing such "invincible" systems as a counter to costly USA missile defense programs.

The Sarmat system is "powerful and modern and defense systems will not be able to withstand it", Putin said earlier in March.

President Putin unveiled a suite of other weapons during his speech, including a supersonic weapon that can not be tracked by anti-missile systems.

Putin was speaking at his annual state of the nation address when he made the statements and essentially put the United States on notice. In a statement, Russian Federation said the launch was a success. Do not forget, no one really wanted to talk to us.

The White House said in a statement that it knows Russian Federation has been developing "destabilizing weapons systems for over a decade in direct violations of its treaty obligations", Fox News said. "The response will be instant and with all the relevant consequences".
