Lewis Hamilton says inexperience costing Max Verstappen results

Lewis Hamilton says inexperience costing Max Verstappen results

Lewis Hamilton lamented radio issues with his Mercedes team at the Bahrain Grand Prix, but accepted his third-place finish represented "damage limitation".

Hamilton lost the Australian GP due to a miscalculation on how much of a gap he needed to have to Sebastian Vettel, and then in Bahrain found himself in what he called "no man's land" as he tried to comprehend what was happening in the race, and how hard he had to push at any given time.

"I wouldn't say it's uncomfortable".

"If you are just out of the auto, you are still full of adrenaline".

Coulthard said: "Where I think Max has just been too aggressive is he has continued to open the steering". In this picture, Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team's British driver Lewis Hamilton (L) chats with Infiniti Red Bull Racing's Belgian-Dutch driver Max Verstappen ahead of the start of the Abu Dhabi Formula One Grand Prix at the Yas Marina circuit, November 27, 2016.

"Maybe I need to go and watch the manoeuvre again, but it didn't feel like a respectful manoeuvre".

The Red Bull driver refuted suggestions that it was a mistake to try overtake Hamilton at that point, saying he needed to start making up ground after his P15 grid position as Red Bull had pace.

Hamilton's Mercedes and the Red Bull of Verstappen were involved in a collision early on in the race, when the Dutchman was attempting to overtake. "I had a good tow on the straight, the last corner was really good so it allowed me to stay close to Lewis." he said.

Belgium, who are playing without world No 10 David Goffin, do not have a player ranked in the top 100 in their line-up.

Verstappen crashed in qualifying in Bahrain on Saturday, blaming an unexpected power surge for the incident.

"I think there was still enough space on the left but I got a touch on the left rear and it destroyed my diff".

Days after referring to Max Verstappen as a "dickhead", Lewis Hamilton claims that the youngster is letting his team down.

But to the surprise of the journalist, Vettel jumped to Hamilton's rescue asking if he could answer the question.

Hamilton's strive for perfection also works against him at times, for he lets frustrations linger. "I studied the data a bit and saw we had a 150hp increase, which is a bit odd". Ultimately, I had a coming together with Max and it was an unnecessary collision.

The task at hand went from challenging to impossible, though, as both drivers were forced to retire within the opening two laps.

"We definitely seem a lot more competitive than in Melbourne and it looks positive for tomorrow".
