Video shows Florida deputy outside Parkland high school during rampage

While students across the nation walked out of school to protest gun violence, the 19-year-old accused of killing 17 people and wounding more in the Florida school shooting sat in court silently, his head bowed.

Cruz allegedly opened fire at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland on February 14, killing 17 people and injuring others.

The video's release was brought about by a lawsuit from media outlets arguing that the public ought to "be given the first-hand opportunity to review and evaluate the video and the actions of its government officials".

He then quickly turns and jumps into a golf cart, along with a staff member, to investigate the gunshots at the 1200 building. It's his actions during those moments that left his former boss, Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel publicly fuming. "After being suspended without pay, Peterson chose to resign and immediately retired rather than face possible termination", the department said in a brief statement with the video's release. He radioed the sheriff's office with a warning. In one of the calls, Peterson tells the dispatcher that shooter Nikolas Cruz was in the parking lot outside the school - in truth, Cruz was still in the building.

Nikolas Cruz was charged with 17 counts of first degree premeditated murder and 17 counts of first degree attempted murder.

City Councilwoman Marielle Franco Killed by Gunshots in Rio de Janeiro
Legendary Brazilian singer Elza Soares, who is black , tweeted that this was "one of the few times when I can't find my voice". For years, the Mare has been wracked by wars between narco-trafficking gangs and often heavy handed interventions by police.

Following his response to the attack, Peterson was branded a coward by President Donald Trump himself and also slammed by surviving students.

His attorney Joseph DiRuzzo claims that Peterson believed the shots were outside; adding that he had been following his training by "taking cover and prompting a lockdown".

The surveillance footage initially shows a uniformed officer and another man outside an arcaded part of the school.

Deputy Scot Peterson can be seen with an unidentified school employee outside a room in the first moments of the massacre. Other officers show up, though it is not clear from the video whether they are BSO or Coral Springs officers, and students are eventually led out of the building. It also prompted Wednesday's nationwide walkout of thousands of students who showed solidarity with the Parkland students a month after the shooting. Video of what happened inside the school is not being released.
