Republican senators tweak Trump for Putin call, knock White House leaker

The White House has said that there were no specific plans right away for a meeting between US President Donald Trump and his newly re-elected Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin.

The US president's briefing materials also had the words "DO NOT CONGRATULATE" in capital letters but Mr Trump instead did just that to Mr Putin over his election victory.

Trump was also advised to condemn the poisoning of a former Russian spy in Britain. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Trump "can call whomever he chooses" but noted that calling Putin "wouldn't have been high on my list".

After aides leaked embarrassing details of Trump's shock decision to call Putin and congratulate him on re-election, the USA president blamed the media for the furor and insisted Moscow can be a solid partner.

Rather than taking a hostile tone, Trump discussed the possibility of a meeting with Putin to discuss numerous issues facing the two countries.

Another White House official didn't dispute to CNN Tuesday the language on the notes provided by members of Trump's National Security Council, but said Trump didn't read or see the notecard.

"We'll probably be meeting in the not-too-distant future", Trump said to reporters after the phone call.

Toyota halts self-driving vehicle tests after Uber-related death
Vehicle accident litigation usually turns on whether a driver acted negligently, or failed to exercise a reasonable level of care. Investigators from the National Transportation Safety Board are in Tempe this week to collect information on the collision.

Trump was not alone in congratulating Putin.

Russian President Vladimir Putin wants to cause trouble wherever he can so he can portray his country as strong again after the collapse of the Soviet Union, British foreign minister Boris Johnson said on Wednesday. The White House denied last week that McMaster was on his way out.

Not only have election monitors cast doubt about the legitimacy of Russian elections, but Putin has been linked to election interference in the United States and other countries. A leak that only a small group of people would know about.

This was a particularly very bad call because the vituperative infant in the White House is locked in a tightening probe over whether Putin illegally helped him win the presidency and/or has leverage thanks to pee tapes or evidence of corrupt business deals.

The White House had said Monday that it was "not surprised by the outcome" of Sunday's presidential election in Russian Federation and that no congratulatory call was planned. Sanders insisted that the administration has scolded Putin at the appropriate times.

Perhaps more important than the call itself is the fact that the contents of the president's briefing materials were leaked to the national press.

Sanders said Trump didn't criticize the conduct of Russia's election in the call.
