Florida State rally falls short, MI advances to Final Four

The Seminoles were down four with 11 seconds to go, and the team didn't foul the Wolverines.

MI knocked Florida State out of the NCAA Tournament with a 58-54 win in the Elite Eight.

The decision to not foul led to an awkward exchange between Hamilton and TBS reporter Dana Jacobson who asked the coach about the decision.

But don't question FSU coach Leonard Hamilton on the late-game decisions.

Florida State went 9-9 in ACC play and lost in the first round of the conference tournament for its fifth defeat in eight games overall, but still made the NCAA field and went on a remarkable run. Florida State couldn't do anything in the second half except take mostly out-of-control drives to the basket.

After playing in front of 19,665 mostly pro-Michigan fans in Los Angeles, the Wolverines can likely expect much of the country to be rooting against them in San Antonio.

But Florida State let the clock run out against MI, and fell 58-54 as the final 10 seconds went off the clock without an action. Loyola vs. MI is one of those games everybody is looking forward to, and for all the right reasons.

US Supreme Court Dismisses Attempt To Block New Pa. Congressional Map
It has always been our belief that the Pennsylvania Supreme Court acted in the best interest of the citizens of our commonwealth. The Supreme Court announced, "the application for stay presented to Justice Alito and by him referred to the Court is denied".

When shots aren't falling, MI knows it can rely on defense, discipline and tenacity.

Hamilton said Michigan's weaker free-throw shooters weren't given the ball late in the contest and his team couldn't pull off enough fouls to get back into contention.

Now they'll face the most improbable opponent of all - 11th-seeded Loyola-Chicago in San Antonio. "He was nothing but professional with me throughout this weekend as I believe I was with them". They held Florida State to just 32.0% from the field and 23.5% from three.

MI had a distinct home-court advantage from thousands of vocal fans packed into the lower bowl of Staples Center.

Not so for Wagner, the 6-foot-11 forward plucked out of Germany by coach John Beilein. The crowd included Rudy Tomjanovich, the MI alumnus and former Lakers coach, who watched in Wolverines gear near courtside.

At halftime, Beilein said he noted his team's poor shooting and thought: "That might change in the second half, but at the same time, we have to understand that we might not make shots". The Ramblers shot 50% from three and 83.3% from the line, and that was that. Against Texas A&M, they shot the lights out, scoring 99 points. "We did a great job on defense".
