Met Office issues new weather warning for snow and ice in Aberdeen

A post on the weather forecaster's site states: "A spell of rain, sleet and hill snow will move North-east on Saturday evening, this gradually turning to snow down to some lower levels".

The east will be brighter but it will be cold too, with temperatures only hitting a maximum of 5C.

There is a risk of spot flooding early morning and the warning remains in place until midnight Saturday.

Lowest temperatures of -2 to +1 degrees in blustery west to northwest winds. Heavier rains are expected overnight, particular Northern Ireland and south west Scotland.

"For a time most of this going through Saturday night into the start of Sunday leaves behind a legacy of icy patches, so you will have to look out for those first thing Sunday".

The cold snap will continue into Monday with wintry showers overnight and frost and ice developing.
