Los Angeles Rams: New first round options after acquiring Marcus Peters

Los Angeles Rams: New first round options after acquiring Marcus Peters

The Los Angeles Rams have agreed to acquire Marcus Peters from the Kansas City Chiefs. The NFL league year doesn't start until March 14, so the deal will not be official until then, but for all intents is purposes, it's done.

Peters, 25, is a two-time Pro Bowler and a 2016 All-Pro player.

The move ensures that the Kansas City Chiefs have the utmost confidence in Kendall Fuller, as did the Washington Redskins when they ultimately chose to trade him away in January.

Peters has drawn the ire of some fans for refusing to stand for the national anthem, even though he has never explained why he is protesting.

There's nothing concrete out there telling us exactly what Los Angeles gave up to add Peters to the mix.

Batshuayi Opens Up About Struggles At Chelsea
Chelsea , on the other hand, are struggling with their league form, having been defeated in their last two out of three matches. AC Milan eased to a 3-0 victory away to Ludogorets Razgrad with goals from Patrick Cutrone, Ricardo Rodriguez and Fabio Borini.

None of those character concerns was evidently enough to dissuade the Rams from making a deal, though.

However, perhaps Ballard (who's highly regarded for his defensive back evaluation) didn't want to surrender the draft compensation and was more comfortable drafting a potential shutdown cornerback early on in this year's NFL Draft.

Peters will count $1.74 million toward the salary cap this season, the final year of his rookie deal, and the Rams will have until May 3 to decide whether to pick up his fifth-year option.

However, if they did go after Johnson, new defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus would be getting a big, physical corner to build the rest of the secondary around.

As of the time of this writing, the haul the Chiefs received for Peters is unknown, but if they didn't come away with the Rams' top draft choice in 2018, it was probably too low of a price to accept for the Pro Bowl corner. But it's unknown whether those will occur in April's draft or in following years.
