Attacks out of proportion: Oxfam chief

Attacks out of proportion: Oxfam chief

One of the best-known worldwide NGOs, with aid programmes running across the globe, Oxfam is under threat of losing its British government funding over the sexual misconduct allegations.

Several senior officials with the global charity have resigned in the wake of the controversy, including the deputy chief executive of Oxfam Great Britain.

"I'm appointing a high-level, independent commission that will look into our culture and our practices and make recommendations to make us stronger at protecting our people", she told the BBC.

She invited victims to come forward "for justice to be done" for them, saying she was "here for all the women who have been abused".

Mr Clarken added: "This review marks the beginning of change for Oxfam as an worldwide organisation - Oxfam Ireland is 100% committed to playing our part and to working with others in government and across the sector to implement urgent reforms that enable us to do more and do better for the world's poorest".

The interview followed a promise by Oxfam to publish a 2011 internal investigation into staff involved in sexual and other misconduct in Haiti as soon as possible, the Guardian reported.

"This was with an honourable, mature woman, who was not an natural disaster victim nor a prostitute".

"I think it was very unbalanced and, ironically, didn't give enough credit to the very work that she promoted", he said.

US Kills Hundreds Of Russian Mercenaries In Syria
Strelkov wrote on his Vkontakte page on February 10 about " several hundred " killed and injured Russian mercenaries . As to who they killed, United States officials are no more forthcoming than they ever are, with Lt.

"I'm not a saint, I'm a man of flesh and blood and have made mistakes (not easy to admit)", said van Hauwermeiren, "And I am deeply ashamed".

In comments to reporters at the newspaper Het Nieuwsblad, who tracked him down in an unidentified town on the Belgian coast, Van Hauwermeiren said there were "lots of lies and exaggerations" in media reports.

He said his government "is willing and getting ready to take legal action against individuals" involved in the scandal - possibly including van Hauwermeiren and members of his staff.

Gurpreet Singh worked as a consultant in Ethiopia from October to December 2011, a decision Oxfam said was "a serious error and should never have happened".

Oxfam sacked four workers and let three others resign over the scandal but the government and charity regulators have criticised Oxfam for a lack of transparency.

"We need to make sure anyone guilty of such gross misconduct is not able to move between different organisations, exposing more vulnerable people to risk", said Ms Byanyima.

In response, Oxfam said it would create a global database of accredited referees to crack down on forged or unreliable references from past or current employees.
