Was the BBC right to axe Brendan Cole from Strictly?

Was the BBC right to axe Brendan Cole from Strictly?

Strictly Come Dancing veteran Brendan Cole has been dropped by the BBC reality show.

He made the emotional announcement on ITV's Lorraine, before bumping into his last Strictly dance partner, Charlotte Hawkins, backstage at the TV studios.

It's a little sad to wave goodbye to one of the last remaining original pros, but perhaps it's time for Brendan to move on as the newer pros have definitely injected a new lease of life into the show in recent years. They made an editorial decision to not have me on the show.

"I'm going to miss dancing with her, I've had one of the best Strictly's in 15 years and it's hard for me to even say that and I feel really emotional".

Cole has taken part in 15 series, most recently being partnered with Charlotte Hawkins of Good Morning Britain in 2017. "I'm a very strong character within the show, I have my strong views".

And former Strictly dancer James Jordan said Cole "will be missed", adding: "Seems like they don't want anyone on the show that has an opinion".

Hopefully Lucy's petition will get back to Brendan so he can see all the effort she has made, or better yet, convince the Beeb to keep him on Strictly.

Kannada organisations call for state wide Bandh, normal life hit hard
Kannada Paksha leader Vatal Nagaraj along with the Mahadayi Agitation Committee had planned for a Karnataka bandh on January 27. The outfits are demanding that Prime Minister Narendra Modi intervenes in the dispute between Goa and Karnataka.

There had been speculation that Brendan would not return to the series following backstage clashes with the judges.

The 38-year-old, who was partnered with the dancer for the eleventh series of Strictly, posted the heartfelt message earlier today.

The TV star, who danced with Charlotte Hawkins previous year, added: "It's an editorial decision".

'I will still watch, I'm a big fan, I don't like the decision though'.

He continued: "I would have preferred to have made the decision myself, but maybe I would never have made it because I love being on the show".

"I have always said as long as I've got a passion for it, I want to be there".

Cole received many messages of thanks and support, with some saying the show would not be the same without him.
