Michigan State athletic director Mark Hollis announces retirement

Michigan State athletic director Mark Hollis announces retirement

State Sen. Margaret O'Brien said college coaches should be added to Michigan's list of mandatory reporters, which includes therapists and medical professionals.

Outside The Lines published a report Friday that outlined a history of sexual assault problems within Michigan State's athletic department.

".any accusations of my handling of any complaints of sexual assault individually are completely false", Dantonio said during the press conference.

"I'm a Spartan. I bleed green".

Hollis said that he was not asked to retire or pressured "in any way" to leave his post. He says he did not know about the 2014 investigation. I have tried to make it not about me.

The pressure on Michigan State was illustrated by the resignation of the school's president, Lou Anna Simon, just hours after the sentencing.

In Washington, U.S. senators from both parties are calling for creation of a select committee to investigate the U.S. Olympic Committee.

Many wore teal and awareness ribbons as a symbol of change. "Every incident reported in that article was documented either by the police or by the Michigan State Title IX office".

Hollis graduated from the university in 1985.

"Since my first day on the job as athletic director, my focus has always been on the student-athlete", Hollis said Wednesday.

The evisceration of Michigan State University in the wake of the Larry Nassar scandal continues. Many, if not all, of those Spartans are hurting, especially the courageous survivors of Larry Nassar's abuse.

Train Gets Derailed During Rush-hour in Milan; 5 Dead, Over 100 Injured
The carabinieri police confirmed at least two people had been killed, 10 seriously injured and dozens more slightly injured. In 2009, 32 people were killed when a freight train carrying liquefied petroleum gas derailed and exploded in Tuscany.

"My heart breaks, my heart breaks thinking about the incomprehensible pain all of them [Nassar victims] and their families have experienced".

In motions filed this month to dismiss the lawsuits, USA Gymnastics and Michigan State argued that most of the allegations were barred by a statute of limitations requiring personal injury claims in Michigan to be brought within three years. There simply aren't the right words to express our sympathy.

"NCAA legislation never was meant to subject member institutions to NCAA oversight and penalties for every injury or harm that might occur on an institution's campus", Tompsett said. But to do so, we must listen and learn lessons. And I hope that has a little bit, a little bit, of helping that healing process'.

"I think what Michigan State, like many athletic departments need, is maybe a real house cleaning", Ridpath said. "Our first priority has always been and will always be their health and safety".

I spoke to my administrative staff, coaches, student-athletes, and most importantly, my wife Nancy and my children, over the course of the past week.

This "don't ask, don't tell" mentality is prevalent in all sexual abuse cases, as many saw with the Harvey Weinstein abuse scandal, and it is used to silence women and the people they confide in.

The NCAA is also involved, sending a letter of inquiry on Tuesday notifying MSU it was beginning its own investigation into the athletic department.

"I mean Kathy blew up", Lemke said of Klages.

- Chris Solari (@chrissolari) January 26, 2018Hollis says "you should not jump to any conclusions" based on his decision.

"I'm not running away from anything. Comfort, compassion and understanding for the survivors and our community; togetherness, time and love for my family".

Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette, a Republican who is running for governor, has said he will conduct a review of what happened at Michigan State, and issue a report and recommendations.
