Govt to ensure passage of Triple Talaq bill in Budget session

The survey will assess the nation's growth over the last 12 months and suggest policy recommendations that could find a place in Finance Minister Arun Jaitley's Union Budget that will be presented on February 1.

The Government has convened an all-party meeting in the Parliament Library Building Sunday evening to evolve a consensus on a smooth session.

Speaking on the issue of triple talaq, the minister said that the Government would do everything to ensure passage of triple talaq bill in the Budget session.

Modi also said that "the Budget Session is important and the entire world is extremely optimistic about India".

One of the primary contention of most opposition parties when the Bill was tabled during the winter session was the criminalisation provision.

"I request all political parties to help pass Triple Talaq Bill in this Budget session of Parliament:", Modi said outside Parliament today.

RJD's Jay Prakash Narayan Yadav said that they raised the issue of unemployment and oppression of the Dalits.

Mahajan made the appeal to leaders of various parties at a dinner hosted by her, a day before the start of the budget session. After a recess of almost a month, the session will resume from 5th March and will go on till 6th of April.
