Google Play Introduces Audiobooks: Assistant Can Read Books In Spanish

Like all its services, these audiobooks are integrated with the Google Assistant; allowing people to start - or continue - listening to their favourite books without having to touch the smartphone. As the name suggests, you can now instruct your Google Assistant - regardless of the device you're using - be it your Android phone, tablet or Google Home to read a book of your choice. This means users can now download and listen to them on the Play Books app or by asking the Google Assistant to read it for them.

And because Google has Google Assistant, you can actually start listing to your audiobook hands free.

Google has plans to bring its audiobooks to other platforms like iOS in the near future, keep your ears open for more details. Google is also offering a variety of audiobooks on sale for a limited time as part of the new audiobooks promotion.

Spain to seek Catalan politician's arrest on Denmark visit
As Spain's legal system wrestled over arresting Puigdemont, the ousted leader's name was put forward as a candidate for president. Puigdemont is being investigated by Spain over a unilateral declaration of independence by Catalonia's parliament on October 27.

Looks like the Audio Books teaser on the Google Play Store a few days ago wasn't up there by mistake. (Don't ask why it's that nonstandard price, or Neil deGrasse Tyson will probably Twittersplain it to you.) Google is also offering 50 percent off your first audiobook purchase. You can also say "Ok Google, who is the author?" or set a timer by saying "Ok Google, stop playing in 20 minutes". But in reality, the beef between the two internet giants does not seem to be letting up, especially now that Google is getting into the audiobook business. As consumers decide which speaker to purchase, they may be swayed by whichever device gives them easier access to their audiobooks, or they'll buy audiobooks from whichever company makes their speaker. While Apple has a stronghold on their App store and doesn't approve apps so easily, Google is much more lenient in this regard. Tell us in the comments what you think of the selection of audiobooks now available in Google Play Store.

Android Auto does not have this integration yet, but Google did mention that an update for that will be coming to the USA later on this year.

What is going to be the first audiobook you pick up or are you an Audible subscriber?
