Autopsy report: Roy Halladay had drugs in system when plane crashed

The Pasco County, Florida coroner said Friday that test results found traces of three drugs in his blood at the time of the 40-year-old's death.

Halladay, whose official cause of death was blunt trauma and drowning, according to the report, suffered a subdural hemorrhage, multiple rib fractures, and lung, liver and spleen injuries in the crash.

A plane piloted by Halladay crashed just off the Gulf coast in November, 2017.

Toxicology results in the autopsy show Halladay had generic Ambien, amphetamine and morphine in his system at the time of the crash.

Chargers to play Titans in London in 2018
The second game that was announced features a pair of division champions who are still alive in the playoffs. The order of the games, along with all kickoff times, will be confirmed at a later date.

Halladay pitched in the big leagues for 16 years, winning 203 games and losing 105. More than 50 nanograms per milliliter of zolpidem is considered by the FDA to be "capable of impairing driving to a degree that increases the risk of a motor vehicle accident" and Halladay's level was 72 nanograms.

However, there's no indication that Halladay was using the illicit drug.

Pitcher Roy Halladay had a slew of drugs in his system when he crashed his experimental private aircraft into the Gulf of Mexico several months ago, according to a newly released autopsy report. During his time in Major League Baseball, he won the Cy Young Award twice and pitched a no-hitter in the 2010 playoffs. He went on to pitch a no-hitter against the Cincinnati Reds in the 2010 divisional series.

A preliminary report released two weeks after the crash by the National Transportation Safety Board said Halladay was flying his ICON A5 plane at 105 miles per hour while skimming the Gulf of Mexico at just 11 feet before climbing 100 feet in the air.
