U.S. vetoes United Nations resolution rejecting Trump's Jerusalem decision

U.S. vetoes United Nations resolution rejecting Trump's Jerusalem decision

Russian Federation is offering to play the role of an "honest moderator" in the Israel-Palestine conflict after the U.S. vetoed a UN Security Council resolution, which was supported by 14 nations of the 15-member body.

Following the USA veto, Egypt's Foreign Ministry said Arab states, which had agreed earlier this month to seek a Security Council resolution, would meet to evaluate the situation to determine what their next steps might be.

"The US decision encourages Israel to persist in its crimes against the Palestinian people and to continue its occupation of our territory".

The Palestinian president also announced that he signed on Monday bids to join 22 worldwide organizations, and that he would apply every week to another organization, adding that he would form a committee to study all the relevant projects.

Echoed by Abbas, he said that the U.S. "destroyed" the two state solution and "undermined all peace efforts".

Abbas also promised to seek full membership for Palestine at the United Nations, despite a previous push failed to do so in 2011.

Under a 1950 resolution, an emergency special session can be called for the General Assembly to consider a matter "with a view to making appropriate recommendations to members for collective measures" if the Security Council fails to act.

Haley was adamant that "the United States will not be told by any country where we can put our embassy". On Hanukkah, you spoke like a Maccabi. You dispel the darkness.

YouTube is reportedly launching a music streaming service called Remix
The new service would incorporate certain YouTube elements, including video, in a Spotify-like format. Record label Warner Music Group has already confirmed its participation, the sources said.

In Netanyahu's words, "One defeated the many, truth defeated lies".

But Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, in some of his sharpest rhetoric since Trump's announcement, reiterated in public comments to senior Palestinian officials Monday that he will no longer accept the U.S.as a Mideast mediator. "Thank you, Nikki Haley".

But one by one, ambassadors of the 14 countries that supported the resolution said after the vote that the US violated council resolutions which make clear that no country can unilaterally decide that Jerusalem is the capital of Israel.

The draft resolution reaffirmed that Jerusalem is an issue "to be resolved through negotiations" and that any decisions on the status of Jerusalem "have no legal effect, are null and void and must be rescinded". "It won't be forgotten", US Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley said after the vote, adding that it was the first veto cast by the US in more than six years.

Francois Delattre, France's ambassador to the United Nations, said his country regretted the USA decision over Jerusalem.

The Palestinian envoy led a group of Arab ambassadors in a meeting with Miroslav Lajcak, the president of the General Assembly, to schedule a vote on the draft resolution, probably on Thursday.

The vote came less than two weeks after Trump's controversial speech, which reversed decades of United States policy on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. But the Palestinians insist that East Jerusalem should be the capital of their future independent state.

Trump's declaration unleashed widespread anger and rallies within Palestine and in major cities across the world.
