Top UN official meets North Korean Foreign Minister

North Korea said that the visit of Jeffrey Feltman, the undersecretary-general for political affairs at the UN, helped the communist nation and UN understand each other deeply, and the two sides agreed to have regular communications at various levels, according to the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

During a four-day visit to North Korea that started Tuesday, Feltman will meet with officials, including Ri, to discuss issues of mutual interest and concern and visit United Nations project sites, according foreign media reports.

"From North Korea's perspective, a country that has declared the completion of its nuclear weapons power, the dialogue was a great opportunity for their position to be presented to the global community", said Kim Yong-hyun, a professor of North Korean studies at Dongguk University in Seoul.

Earlier, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) released a statement of North Korea's foreign ministry official that said that the statements made by American high-profile officials and the joint drills conducted by the US and South Korea show that Washington is trying to trigger war on the Korean Peninsula which North Korea will not be hiding from.

Feltman, a former senior U.S. State Department official, arrived in Pyongyang on Tuesday for a five-day visit.

Amazon's New Apple TV App May Have a Major Sound Issue
Amazon kicked the Chromecast, Google's television player, off its retail website in 2015, along with Apple Inc's TV player. Streaming devices allow users to stream videos from platform such as Netflix, YouTube , Hulu, and Amazon Prime on its TV.

State media also said Feltman visited a Pyongyang maternity hospital and a "disease prevention" facility, but left out mention of details around his meeting with foreign ministry officials.

North Korea hates such displays of American military might at close range and typically uses strong language to condemn them as invasion rehearsals. But US State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert expressed a somewhat different perspective during the daily press briefing on December 7.

His visit comes amid high tensions on the Korean Peninsula following North Korea's intercontinental ballistic missile launch last Wednesday.

North Korea has since labelled this an "all-out provocation" and declared that "bellicose remarks" by United States officials had made the outbreak of war an "established fact", reported The Guardian.
