House passes legislation extending concealed carry privilege across state lines

House passes legislation extending concealed carry privilege across state lines

Rep. Tom Graves (R-GA-14) today voted for and the House passed the Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act (H.R. 38). If the Senate passes the bill, it will then head to the President's desk for signing.

"Even the most careful and knowledgeable concealed carry permit holders find it hard to navigate the current maze of state and local concealed carry laws", Rep. Richard Hudson (R-NC), author of the bill, said. "Only the NRA could propose something so ill-considered, unsafe and vile". Dan Donovan and Peter King.

The NYPD and other law enforcement officials are concerned over a move by the House to change the law when it comes to concealed guns.

The argument from 50-state-carry proponents that driver's licenses are valid in all 50 states once issued by each one misses the mark.

Should reciprocity sweep Congress and be signed into law by President Donald Trump, both the Everytown group and Giffords have promised to meet the federal government in court over the expansion, using the argument that it would violate states' rights protected by the Constitution.

She said this even though it is a fact that concealed carry permit holders are among the most law-abiding of law-abiding Americans. "Rights guaranteed under the Second Amendment do not end at the state line".

IOC suspends Russian Olympic committee
Tatyana Tarasova, a prominent Russian figure skating coach, said the International Olympic Committee decision was "absolutely unjust".

"New York City's well-recognized success in the continued decrease in shootings and murder is in no small part a result of effective control of guns on our streets", said NYPD Commissioner James P. O'Neill.

The "Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act" was passed yesterday by a 231-198 margin.

"The first concrete action this body has taken in response the numerous gun tragedies our nation has experienced is to make it easier for people to carry hidden, loaded guns in our communities", said Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman (D-12), a New Jersey Democrat who has strongly opposed efforts to loosen gun restrictions.

Democrats said the measure would let gun owners from states with limited laws come to NY, saying Congress should be strengthening gun control laws in the wake of mass shootings.

"In collaboration with local law enforcement, we have managed to meaningfully reduce shootings in NY, making it the safest large city in the United States", Williams continued.

The bill's sponsor, US Representative Richard Hudson, a North Carolina Republican, said: "For the millions of law-abiding citizens who lawfully carry concealed to protect themselves, for conservatives who want to strengthen our Second Amendment rights, and for the overwhelming majority of Americans who support concealed carry reciprocity, Christmas came early".
