Georgia's ex-President Saakashvili detained in Ukraine

Mikheil Saakashvili, the former president of Georgia, was arrested on Friday in Ukraine during a late-night police raid on an apartment where he had been sheltering after his escape from custody following a rooftop struggle with security agents this week.

She said the work of NABU and the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office (SAPO) - a partner agency that is also under attack - was "crucial to achieving stronger and equitable growth".

Saakashvili's recapture follows a surreal game of hide-and-seek that saw him clamber on a roof to avoid law enforcement, before being broken out of a police van by protesters amid clashes with hundreds of riot police on Tuesday.

Lagarde said she and Poroshenko had discussed the need to safeguard the independence of NABU and similar institutions and that they agreed on the urgency of establishing an anti-corruption court.

Seventy-one percent say they don't believe the women who have come forward, compared to 17 percent who say they do. A JMC Analytics Poll of 650 registered Alabama voters had Moore with 48 percent support and Jones with 43 percent.

Bilateral meetings between the presidents of Lithuania and Ukraine are traditionally held once a year.

He hasn't been formally charged, but prosecutors say he colluded with Ukrainian businessmen tied to Russian Federation to topple President Petro Poroshenko.

He previously served as governor of the southern Odessa region after being appointed by Mr Poroshenko in 2015. Saakashvili then re-entered the country illegally and staged multiple rallies in the capital demanding the president be impeached.

Law enforcement officers searched Saakashvili's apartment in Kyiv on December 5, dragged him off the roof, and bundled him into a auto. Georgia had earlier stripped his citizenship and sought his extradition on charges of abuse of power while president. But supporters blocked the streets and pulled him from the vehicle, and he led a march to parliament.
