Obama gets dismissed from jury duty in Chicago

Obama gets dismissed from jury duty in Chicago

The Chicago Tribune reports Obama arrived at the center this morning to join other potential jury members in the selection room.

Cell phone video from a fellow juror shows a relaxed Obama signing in at the Richard J. Daley Center and then shaking hands with those seated around the jury pool waiting room.

USA talk host Oprah Winfrey served as a juror on a murder trail in 2004 while Oscar-winning actor Tom Hanks sat on the benches in 2013. "No one is excused", Evans said after Obama's departure. As happens most days, would-be jurors brought books, but on Wednesday some people brought books Obama had authored in hopes he might sign them.

"Look at this. Did you know I was coming?" he asked one man who held a copy of Obama's "Dreams From My Father".

Is Microsoft working on a new 'foldable' tablet?
In addition to that, the foldable device could have its own notebook app which would mimic writing on a real notebook. Andromeda's selling point will be pen and digital ink support which is something that numerous Surface devices have.

Obama took a private elevator with his security to the room, where he shook almost every hand. Hill said that the former president would donate it to Cook County.

Obama still owns a home at 51st and Greenwood, and is registered to vote in Chicago, although he and his family live in D.C. However people can be dismissed for jury due to economic hardship or if they work full time for the army, emergency services or the U.S. government. The official, who is not authorized to speak about the former president's jury duty, spoke on condition of anonymity.

Like other jurors, Obama will be paid $17.20 for each day of service. George W. Bush got called but wasn't picked for jury duty in Dallas in 2015 and former President Bill Clinton was dismissed from a federal jury in 2003 gang-related murder case.
