Shanghai Masters: Rafael Nadal beats Grigor Dimitrov to reach semi-finals

Shanghai Masters: Rafael Nadal beats Grigor Dimitrov to reach semi-finals

The second semifinals match will feature Roger Federer, who faces Juan Martin del Potro for the 23rd time in his career. Unexpectedly, a slight misfocus from Dimitrov caused him to be broken early in the match, allowing Harrison to take the lead from the start.

Nadal, who is chasing his fourth end of year No.1 ranking, said he was happy to have taken care of his opponent in just over an hour.

"But if nothing risky happened, I will be here to play tomorrow and doing my best". Nadal also improved his win streak to 15 having taken out last week's China Open.

And he underlined his status as the man to beat in Shanghai as he battered the Italian Fognini 6-3, 6-1.

The Croatian, bidding to reach the season-ending ATP Finals in London, grabbed the critical break in the sixth game of the first set on his way to a comprehensive 6-3, 6-4 victory over the unseeded Spaniard.

The world No 1 persevered 6-4 6-7 6-3 to book a semi-final with Marin Cilic, and record a second win over Dimitrov in as many weeks.

A mouthwatering Nadal-Federer final on Sunday awaits if the celebrated pair continue at the current rate.

Bayern Munich: Heynckes named as coach until end of season
They had also been beaten 3-0 at Paris St Germain in the Champions League. "Bayern Munich is very close to my heart. Work in Spain followed, at Athletic Bilbao, Tenerife and Real Madrid, where he won the Champions League in 1997.

Del Potro tumbled at 2-2 in the third set against Viktor Troicki of Serbia and instinctively tried to break the fall with his left wrist.

The next couple of games went past within a blink of an eye, and Harrison soon found himself serving for the set at 5-3 up.

It looked like Nadal, leading 4-2 in the second set tie-break, would win in straight sets, but the Bulgarian reeled off five straight points to level things up.

"I felt good in the first match", Federer said.

A fan at least came away with a demolished racquet for a souvenir after the young German handed it to a spectator. "We'll see tomorrow if I can have another good day".

"I'm a bit pissed off because I feel like I played well and that's the upsetting part of it - I could have done great in this tournament".
