Gold Star Widow shares her conversation with Pres

Gold Star Widow shares her conversation with Pres

The dispute surfaced when Trump took heat for not commenting on the October 4 attack that killed four US soldiers in Niger, and then making the false claim that previous presidents had not called families of troops killed in action.

Trump's chief of staff, John Kelly, who lost his Marine son Robert in Afghanistan, sharply rebuked a congresswoman who listened to the call with Johnson's widow and lashed out at Trump after.

According to documents acquired by Roll Call, the president's aides not only knew he had not contacted as many families as he'd claimed - they also scrambled to get a list of killed American service members as soon as possible to head off controversy.

With all the backlash from the left, Stephenson's letter proves again what many military families already know: that this is one president who has total respect for those who serve their country.

The New York Times also noted that Obama had a long record of meeting with families of killed service members, and regularly traveled to Dover Air Force Base in DE to greet the caskets of fallen troops.

"It was a moment of niceness that we needed because we were going through hell", she said. Johnson was among four servicemen killed in Niger earlier this month.

Her husband, Staff Sgt. Mark De Alencar, 37, a Special Forces soldier, was shot and killed in April in Afghanistan in an operation against Islamic State militants.

Trump concluded the call with a message for the couple's kids. Wilson says she heard part of the conversation on speakerphone. "You could ask General Kelly, did he get a call from Obama?" That included Chris Baldridge, whose son, Army Sgt. Dillon Baldridge, died in Afghanistan in June.

The US Is Leaving UNESCO - Again
Under the Reagan Administration, the USA quit UNESCO in 1984, at the time accusing the agency of a pro- Soviet Union bias. Netanyahu accused UNESCO of "becoming a Theater of Absurd because instead of preserving history, it twists it".

"I don't know if he did (call)", Trump said.

U.S. Rep. Frederica Wilson, a Democrat from Florida who was in the vehicle with the Johnson family when Trump called the late soldier's pregnant widow, set off a media frenzy this week when the congresswoman said she overheard the comment the president made to Myeshia Johnson.

When someone is killed in action, a Pentagon officer notifies next of kin and sends information to the White House office that is confirmed and assembled, she said.

The phone call ended with Trump repeating his invitation to the White House and advising De Alencar to take care of herself. But she said Trump was totally sympathetic to the widow, and is "appalling" that WIlson "has politicized this issue, and the way she is trying to make this about something that it isn't".

De Alencar: "Yes, sir". Maybe he should say he only wanted to console family but must work at doing a better job? She says she's waited in vain for a letter, even after writing to Trump six weeks ago to tell him she was still deeply grieving.

After his son Caleb passed away Erickson received visits from both Minnesota senators and a letter from former President Obama.

She paced up and down the stairs before finally going to the door of their home at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida.
