Ford recalls 1.3M F-150, Super Duty trucks in North America

Ford recalls 1.3M F-150, Super Duty trucks in North America

Almost 1.3 million F-150 and Super Duty trucks are affected by the recall, spanning model years 2015-2017.

Ford is issuing a recall for more than a million F-Series pickups sold in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

A frozen latch found in these vehicles may cause doors to not open or close correctly.

Reuters reported that Ford has recalled over 5 million vehicles since 2016 that had issues with door latches - and that a spokeswoman for the company said customers with affected vehicles will hear from the company next month. In total, 1,344,605 units are impacted. Should a customer be able to open and close the door with these conditions, the door may appear closed, but the latch may not fully engage the door striker with the potential that the door could open while driving, increasing the risk of injury.

The automaker will take a $267 million hit in order to recall and fix the affected trucks.

Is Buying Bank of America Corporation (NYSE:BAC) Here Good Idea?
The stock of Bank of America Corp (NYSE: BAC ) has "Market Perform" rating given on Monday, May 16 by Keefe Bruyette & Woods. The financial services provider reported $0.48 EPS for the quarter, topping the Zacks' consensus estimate of $0.46 by $0.02.

The affected models include some of the model year 2015, 2016 and 2017 F-150's, as well as some 2017 Super Duty pickups.

Weigandt said Ford's decision to issue a recall is driven by data.

Ford's F-150 pickup truck is one of the country's most popular vehicles and a perennial best-seller.

Ford's stock traded down about 0.4% Wednesday afternoon, at $12.22 in a 52-week range of $10.47 to $13.27. Ford expects this to change its annual adjusted earnings from $1.65 to $1.85 per share.

The recall is for a faulty driver's side door that may allow the door to open unexpectedly while the vehicle is moving.
