Senate Republicans derail bipartisan health care compromise

Senate Republicans derail bipartisan health care compromise

The TV presenter Jimmy Kimmel has said a USA senator "lied to his face" about a proposed healthcare bill that guarantees medical coverage for families. "He said he would only support a healthcare bill that makes sure a child like mine would get the health he needs, no matter how much money his parents make". He however said, he is ready to work with the President on a real repeal. The measure is supported by the White House and Senate leaders, but supporters are still looking for the 50 GOP votes they would need to pass the bill over solid Democratic opposition.

But activists who have opposed previous efforts to repeal so-called Obamacare dispute those numbers and fear how it will affect poor and working class people. Lindsey Graham of SC and Bill Cassidy of Louisiana doesn't seem to do any of that.

The Graham-Cassidy bill now being pushed in the Senate would repeal the individual and employer mandates as well as shift Obamacare's Medicaid expansion funding and insurance subsidy structure into a block grant program for states.

Kimmel was encouraged by Cassidy's remarks, and by the senator's commitment to have any new health care legislation pass what he called the "Jimmy Kimmel test".

"I never imagined I would get involved in something like this", Kimmel said. If Senate Republicans don't succeed by September 30, the bill will lose special legislative protections from Democratic filibusters that expire at the end of the fiscal year.

Russian war game to 'intimidate' North Atlantic Treaty Organisation allies
This year's exercises, called Zapad ("West") 2017, are the first since Russian Federation annexed the Crimea in 2014. International observers suggest that the invented countries are proxies for the Baltic States and Poland.

Popp's statement said: "It is the leader's intention to consider Graham-Cassidy on the floor next week".

This new data comes just a week after Sanders, supported by 16 Senate Democrats, introduced a bill that would guarantee healthcare for all Americans by expanding the Medicare program to every US resident. "It will cost our state over $2 billion annually while directly jeopardizing the health care of our citizens". But he says he won't back it because it would take money away from New Jersey and other states that expanded Medicaid.

The biggest reason is that the bill repeals Obamacare's expansion of Medicaid.

On Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, the host blasted Republicans for attempting to "sneak this scam of a bill" into law. "This guy, Bill Cassidy, just lied right to my face", Kimmel continued.

OH and the other 31 states that expanded Medicaid would see that funding phased out.
