Pakistani soil not being used against any country, says Dastagir

Pakistani soil not being used against any country, says Dastagir

Under mounting worldwide pressure to act against the terror groups, Pakistan on Tuesday rejected a declaration by the BRICS nations, including China, saying there was no "safe haven" for terrorists on its soil.

"Pakistan has taken action against all groups on its soil and only the remnants of some are left", he added. The BRICS nations include Pakistan's all-weather friend China, besides India, Brazil, Russia and South Africa.

Although Beijing and Islamabad consider their fellow nuclear-armed country India to be their regional rival, China and India have signaled concern about Pakistani-based jihadists, a position that is consistent with recent remarks from U.S. President Donald Trump as he announced his plan to end the 16-year-old war, officially dubbed the South Asia Strategy.

Asif also said Pakistan needs to question whether it had fully implemented its National Action Plan (NAP) on terrorism that was framed after a Taliban attack on an army-run in Peshawar in 2014 killed almost 150 people.

Pakistan strongly rejected the allegations of harboring any terrorists.

On Monday, the leaders of the five emerging market powers, for the first time, named militant groups allegedly based in Pakistan as a regional security concern and called for their patrons to be held to account.

Transgender soldiers serving in the United States military will keep their jobs, at least for now. Secretary Mattis did not make a decision to "buy time" or to "freeze" the current policy.

China has been forced to condemn terrorist based organisations. "Pakistan does not fear any external aggression as its army, navy and air force are keeping a strict eye on the situation", he said.

Pakistan police officers fire tear gas shell to disperse Shiite Muslims during an anti-U.S rally, when they tried to march toward the USA consulate, in Karachi, Pakistan, Sunday, Aug. 27, 2017.

It said that while Pakistan has made significant strides in its fight against militancy, "there is a contradiction at the heart of the country's efforts to fight militancy, terrorism and extremism: an unwillingness to acknowledge that past policies, and an ongoing selective approach to fighting militancy, have contributed to the problem".

"China and Pakistan are all weather strategic partners".

The largest Chinese province Xinjiang is home to the predominantly Muslim Uighur minority, many of whom have joined terrorist organizations that have threatened China. It was a major issue among a number of countries and it was an important step to even name some of the Pakistan terrorist military organisation. "Did we show the world that we acted according to the resolve we made in 2014?" he added.
