IL basketball: No information to suggest involvement in college basketball corruption scheme

Lamont Evans, Oklahoma State associate men's basketball coach and recruiting coordinator, has been charged by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in connection with a fraud and corruption scheme.

"As we have already stated, we will cooperate with federal officials and coordinate with the NCAA as we move forward with looking into this matter to the fullest extent".

Court documents show Evans took at least $22,000 in bribe money to direct basketball players to agents or financial advisers. Others included managers, financial advisers and representatives of a major worldwide sportswear company.

"He's a brother that I never had, a great friend and a tremendous coach, and he will be standing here one day", Boynton said of Evans at his introductory press conference in March.

Underwood and Evans also spent five seasons together on Frank Martin's staffs at Kansas State and SC.

Person, associate head coach at Auburn, was drafted by the Indiana Pacers in 1986 and played for five National Basketball Association teams over 13 seasons.

The coaches charged are Chuck Person of Auburn, Emanuel Richardson of Arizona, Tony Bland of Southern California and Lamont Evans of Oklahoma State.

Underwood, now the head coach at IL, hired Evans as his assistant and recruiting coordinator when he was named head coach at Oklahoma State in 2016 following the firing of Travis Ford.

One thing Trump may want to consider: the damage a tank could do to the asphalt as it rolls down Pennsylvania Avenue. Trump hoped to have military vehicles in his Inauguration Day parade, but this plan never came to fruition.

The complaint also alleges Evans believed he had the ability to "bury" other advisors if they tried to recruit or sign his players.

"For these men, bribing coaches was an investment", Kim said.

"These are serious accusations that are not consistent with University of SC values". Evans, a Bahamas native, was told to surrender his passport. "In steering players to a financial adviser who it turns out who was actually working for the government".

They said Person also claimed to pay $18,500 of that sum to two players' families.

Evans' next hearing is October 10 in NY.

According to Evans' contract, which the Tulsa World received through an open records request, the university's obligations for payment cease at the end of the month in which he is terminated for just cause.

Following the announcement, OSU officials said they were surprised by the federal investigation involving the nationwide bribery scheme.
