BRICS Summit in Xiamen

BRICS Summit in Xiamen

Earlier, China has raised concerns about India raising the issue of terrorism at the BRICS Summit. In March, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that China would explore options for expansion to a "Brics plus" and build a wider partnership through dialogue with developing countries and worldwide organizations. The "BRICS card" came in handy for India to moderate China's initially adamant and belligerent stance that threatened "annihilation" of the Indian Army.

The Summit will focus on the state of the global economic recovery, intra-BRICS trade and a greater role for emerging economies in the worldwide financial architecture. The visit is important as India's eastern neighbour is a vital part of its Act East and neighbourhood first policy. This visit is considered to be very significant for Bilateral ties between India & China as on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit, PM Modi is likely to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping, though a bilateral meeting has not been scheduled so far.

According to Egypt's Presidency, el-Sisi will hold meetings with senior Vietnamese officials to discuss bilateral relations and ways to bolster them in various fields.

"China is willing to work with Pakistan and other countries to enhance our cooperation in counterterrorism".

"We will also interact with the BRICS Business Council represented by captains of industry from all five countries", he had said.

Apart from this Prime Minister, Narendra Modi will also visit Myanmar from September 5-7.

"I will end my visit in Yangon, where I look forward to visiting various historical spots that symbolise the shared heritage of India and Myanmar".
