Gangrape survivor attacked with acid, Adityanath questions authenticity of report

Gangrape survivor attacked with acid, Adityanath questions authenticity of report

In yet another horrifying incident, an acid attack victim in Aliganj district of Uttar Pradesh, whom chief minister Yogi Adityanath met in the hospital has again faced the same barbarous attack.

State Women Welfare Minister Rita Bahuguna Joshi said, "There was a guard and some girls, who were there on the hostel roof, when the incident took place but none of them saw anyone".

The victim shouted for help but the attackers managed to make good their escape after perpetrating the crime, the police said. The police are also investigating the previous attacks on her and have rounded up the two men who were arrested - but later granted bail - in connection with the attack in March.

"Ye ghatna sachmuch ghatna hai ya fir ghatna ke naam par kuchh log kewal badnaam karne ki sajish rach rahe hain (Did the attack really take place or are some people hatching a conspiracy to defame the State government)", he said.

The woman works at Lucknow's Sheroes Hangout Café, which is run by several acid attack survivors.

On Saturday night, the two assailants allegedly entered the hostel by scaling the perimeter wall of the hostel and threw acid on her.

In March this year, she was cornered, while travelling by a train with her daughter, by her alleged rapists and forced to drink acid.

She has sustained burn injuries on her face and neck, police said, adding that no FIR has been registered yet and they are awaiting a complaint. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had visited her at a hospital and announced Rs 1 lakh assistance for the 45-year-old woman. I had visited her at the KGMU and then we made arrangments for her treatment and security. The gunners were later withdrawn. "In fact a police team was sent immediately at their house to detain them". Sources in the police said that the attack might have been connected with the ongoing property dispute involving her in Raebareilly. She was admitted to the trauma centre of the King George's Medical University. The incident took place inside the hostel premises. She wrote the complaint as she could not speak.

Speaking to ANI, Juhi said, "The law and order has completed broken down in UP".

The Samajwadi Party attacked the state's BJP government over the law and order situation.
