North Korea accuses US, South Korea of assassination attempt

North Korea accuses US, South Korea of assassination attempt

For decades, South Korea's Ministry of Unification has managed this aspect of the North Korea relationship, with an emphasis on acquiring scarce strategic materials from the Kim regimes through South Korea's state-owned resource corporation, KORES. South Korea is not willing to sacrifice itself for United States global domination, and that is true also for Asia, where the Philippines and other countries like Thailand are calling into question the U.S. strategy towards China since they have very important ties.

North Korea is under United Nations sanctions targeting its efforts to develop a nuclear missile arsenal, but Washington wants its Asian allies to do more.

The spy agency later provided the man with additional cash to hire co-conspirators, the statement said.

The National Intelligence Service dismissed the accusations as groundless.

In this Saturday, April 15, 2017, file photo, North Korean leader Kim Jong Un waves during a military parade in Pyongyang, North Korea, to celebrate the 105th birth anniversary of Kim Il Sung, the country's late founder and grandfather of current ruler Kim Jong Un.

The allegations made by North Korea are detailed.

The North's Ministry of State Security released a statement saying "the last-ditch effort" of USA "imperialists" and the South had gone "beyond the limits". The meeting, created to show China as the unchallenged leader of a continent-wide economic and geostrategic project, suffered a knock with the North Korean claim that it "will never beg for the maintenance of friendship with China, risking its nuclear programme which is as precious as its own life".

The charge came just after a visit to South Korea by Central Intelligence Agency director Mike Pompeo and at a time of high tension driven by concerns that North Korea may conduct a sixth nuclear test or further missile launches in defiance of UN Security Council resolutions. The South Korean presidential election is scheduled to be held on May 9.

It remains impossible to verify these claims.

Many traditional conservatives still reeling from Ms. Park's downfall and her arrest support Mr. Ahn because they worry Mr. Moon's ascension would lead to concessions to the North and weaken worldwide sanctions on the country.

June 2014: A North Korean working at a timber firm in the Khabarovsk territory of far-eastern Russian Federation is "corrupted and bribed" by CIA and South Korean intelligence agents.

When it accused the South Korean spy agency in these cases, it usually named the CIA as a co-conspirator or the mastermind.

A whirlwind of events have reshaped the geopolitical landscape surrounding South Korea over the past months, including the deployment of a high-profile USA missile defense system here and China's crushing retaliations against Seoul, with no incumbent president in South Korea to cope with the urgent issues.

It is widely believed to have mounted a hacking attack of Sony Pictures in 2014 as a retaliation against "The Interview", a comedy based on a fictional plot to assassinate Kim.

South Korea's Yonhap news agency quoted South Korea's Defense Minister Han Min Koo as saying on January 4 that South Korea would launch a special unit this year tasked with "removing or paralyzing" North Korea's command structure in the event of a war.

Last week, however, Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) told reporters that the best way to solve the North Korea problem was to "eradicate the leadership".

"The revolutionary forces of the DPRK with its nuclear force for as its pivot will fulfill its sacred mission of devotedly defending its supreme leadership representing the destiny and life of its people by dealing a merciless sledge-hammer blow at those daring [to] hurt the dignity of the supreme leadership", the North said in response.
