Maryland teen banned from Christian HS graduation because she's pregnant

Maryland teen banned from Christian HS graduation because she's pregnant

"Maddi is being disciplined, not because she's pregnant, but because she was immoral", wrote David R. Hobbs, administrator of Heritage Academy, about senior Maddi Runkles.

Maddi felt wrongly represented, despite her honesty, and abandoned by the principles the school faculty had professed. Although he relented and allowed her to attend classes in school, the principal still prohibited her from graduating with the rest of her batch.

"She made the courageous decision to choose life, and she definitely should not be shamed", Kristen Hawkins, the Students for Life president advocating for Maddi's right to walk at graduation, told The New York Times. "And I never thought that I would consider it, but it was just the fear and what I've seen girls like me go through".

"We sign a student code at the beginning of each school year that we'll refrain from drugs, alcohol, tobacco, and pre-marital sex, stuff like that". "Did you think, 'I could have an abortion?'" she asked the teenager.

"All I did that was wrong was just had sex before marriage, which they don't agree with", she says.

"We love Maddi, we forgive her". He issued a statement to the school's "family" on Tuesday (May 23).

She's disappointed in her school, Heritage Academy, "because I'd worked so hard for that...and I made one mistake and all my hard work was being taken away from me". Maddi reportedly found out she was pregnant in January, just before she received a college acceptance letter.

Monaco plan to keep coach and star striker Mbappe
But personally, I think and hope that he stays in Monaco for at least a year and establish himself as a better player. Vasilyev added: "We'll talk in the coming days and will offer him an extension".

The determination to not let Runkles "walk" when she completes her studies at the Hagerstown school prompted a sharp critique from Students for Life of America, which asked its supporters to urge the school to reverse its decision.

Runkles said that Heritage Academy principal David Hobbs initially made a decision to tell the entire school that she had broken her pledge to avoid premarital sex.

An 18-year-old student at a local Christian school has been disallowed from participating in her graduation ceremony because she is pregnant.

.

Hobbs said Heritage, which opened in 1969 and has 175 students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade, emphasizes abstinence and tells students to "maintain their purity until their wedding night".

The school officials eventually allowed her to finish her classes in school, but she was still prohibited from attending the graduation with her class. Ultimately, he quit the board in protest over how the school treated her. "I think she's got it together and I think she's going to be fine", Sharon said of her daughter.

Runkles admitted to signing the pledge, but her father feels there is room left for interpretation. "It was embarrassing but I wanted my peers and my friends to hear it from me".

"You can't be pro-life, but then refuse to support the girl that keeps her baby", she said.
