Sculptor of Wall Street's bull wants 'Fearless Girl' moved

Sculptor of Wall Street's bull wants 'Fearless Girl' moved

The sculptor will be challenging the city officials who issued a permit for the bronze girl to stay until February of 2018, demanding that the city provide documentation behind the decision.

The statue was created by artist Kristen Visbal, who was commissioned by a NY advertising firm and a Boston investment bank, as a pointed message to corporate America about the lack of women in their boardrooms. He's called "Fearless Girl" an "advertising trick", and plans to address the matter in a press conference on Wednesday, according to attorney Norman Siegel.

A spokeswoman for the mayor said he had no additional comment on di Modica's allegations. It was created to encourage corporations to fill more board seats with women.

For at least one person, though, the Girl has offered less than welcome company.

The Wall Street bull has company.

Then last month, on International Women's Day, a new statue of a symbolically courageous Fearless Girl stole its spotlight - and, Di Modica says, fundamentally corrupted the artistic integrity of his Charging Bull.

A clearly shocked Exelby, with her eyes wide-open, threw down her pen in a flash and simultaneously let out an audible gasp. In their supportive messages, many prominent journalists revealed the same thing had happened to them a few times .

"The bull is handsome, it's a stunning piece of art", Visbal told the New York Post.

Wall Street's Fearless Girl has spent weeks in a staring match with Charging Bull, and the bull blinked first. Siegel, a longtime civil liberties lawyer, carefully emphasized that they, too, support the fight for gender equality and that they do not want the Fearless Girl banned entirely. Artist Arturo Di Modica said Wednesday, April 12, that the new neighboring statue changes his bull into something negative. Authorities originally removed the work, but later reinstalled it after public outcry made clear that New Yorkers wanted the bull to stay.

They also drew inspiration from Di Modica's surprise installment, albeit with a permit, and dropped her off in the middle of the night.

The Italian-born sculptor created the mammoth bronze bull as a symbol of America's financial resilience after a turbulent end to Wall Street's "greed is good" decade.

Di Modica approached Siegel for help, the attorney said.

"The world is about money, but there are people like Arturo I believe and others who it's not necessarily the sole or motivating factor", he said.
