Final Four: South Carolina's Frank Martin emotional following loss to Gonzaga

Final Four: South Carolina's Frank Martin emotional following loss to Gonzaga

Stanford's impressive national tournament run has come to the end, losing 62-53 to SC. The Gamecocks advance to Sunday's NCAA championship game against the victor of Mississippi State-UConn (ESPN2/WatchESPN).

A limited Sandarius Thornwell combined with an overpowering Przemek Karnowski ended perhaps the most memorable run in SC men's basketball history.

But as the first half wore on, the Tar Heels started to use their size, strength and skill to take the lead and assert themselves. (He went 0-5, with two losses coming to league rival South Carolina). Justin McKie played a fantastic first 20 minutes for the Gamecocks.

The Bulldogs held off a furious rally as SC used a 16-0 run to overcome a 14-point deficit.

SC coach Frank Martin wanted Thornwell to make the first free throw, which he did, and then miss the second one to the left, hoping that Gamecocks forward Chris Silva could tap the ball out to a teammate to get a last-second shot to send the game into overtime or win it in regulation with a 3-pointer. She played in the second half but was never effective.

We'll have up-to-the-minute scoring and stats here throughout the game. As a matter of fact, this is the first time the Gamecocks entered into the Final Four. So she dominated in another way: on the glass. She finally got free for two layups in the fourth quarter, two key buckets to keep the lead safe. If they end up playing Carolina on Monday, that game is a coin flip. On a night when there wasn't a great offensive player, Gray was the best.

They have been powerful enough to take SC to its first Final Four.

US general confident North Korean missile can be intercepted
He told reporters in Tokyo on Wednesday that "Japan can not tolerate North Korea's repeated provocative actions". Abe said that he told Trump that Japan is paying close attention to how China handles the issue of North Korea .

But with the SC fans making deafening noise, the Zags remained poised, going on a 7-0 run of their own that included four points from 7-foot, 300-pound Polish monster Przemek Karnowski, who returned in the second half after suffering an eye injury late in the first half. Fellow Canadian Dillon Brooks of Mississauga, Ont., has been the leader for OR all season, but struggled, finishing with 10 points on 2-for-11 shooting before fouling out.

Player of the game III: Erica McCall. Collins also had six blocks. She provided all the early energy and was the initial defender on Wilson. He finished with a double-double, scoring 14 and grabbing 13 rebounds. It was keyed by a 13-0 run, with Gray and Bianca Cuevas-Moore making key contributions.

Collins' 3-pointer put the Zags up 67-65 with 6:45 left in a game which they would not trail again.

In the second half, Stanford's basket had a lid on it. Stanford shot a dismal 19% in the third quarter. Aside from the fact that he shot he shot 9-16 from the field finishing with 23 points. The Gamecocks made just 3-of-13 from deep.

"That's my job, is to go in and rim protect. That was really it, they just took the ball out of my hands on my drives". Dozier hit a jumper and then Chris Silva's steal led to a 3-pointer by Sindarius Thornwell.

Gonzaga's 45 points were the most scored on SC in the tournament, as the normally stingy defense allowed the Bulldogs to shoot 58 percent, while the Gamecocks shot 37 percent.
