Princess launches "Pink Corner" for breast cancer awareness

´╗┐The death of two grandmothers to cancer prompted Invercargill woman Carolyn Nicoll to write a book featuring survivors of breast cancer.

Sarah Williams, Cancer Research UK's health information manager, says: "This study is the largest of its kind and has found no link between breast cancer and working night shifts".

"We need to focus on getting good care, high-quality care to everybody", Brawley adds. Charitable and community groups, individuals and businesses are participating with the trademark color to help raise awareness and, in many cases, raise funds to help combat breast cancer.

The researchers found that the incidence of breast cancer was essentially the same whether someone did no night shift work at all or did night shift work for several decades-the combined relative risks taking all 10 studies together were 0.99 for any night shift work, 1.01 for 20 or more years of night shift work, and 1.00 for 30 or more years night shift work. "I think it's very important to get tested because breast cancer has become a really big issue with women over the years", said Sierra Smith, junior marketing major from New Orleans, Louisiana.

Racial disparities between black and white breast cancer patients are receding, according to a report released Thursday.

Brawley also said, "We need to fix some of the underlying causes of breast cancer, such as the high prevalence of obesity among black women".

Approximately 221,000 breast cancers were diagnosed in women of any race each year during the period from 2009 through 2013.

Suspect of planning attack probably had contact with the IS: German official
Germany's spy chief said on Tuesday that Albakr had ties to ISIS , but that has not yet been confirmed. The Syrians' asylum status wasn't immediately clear.

However, a new study has dismissed the fear, saying it is unlikely that working late will cause cancer, especially among women.

These almost equal numbers, the researchers say, are mostly caused by increasing breast cancer rates among black women. She's director of the division of cancer prevention and control at the CDC.

New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation communications manager Adele Gautier said Invercargill residents were traditionally among the most generous givers in the country at the annual street appeal.

Latimer noted that reduced cost screening and even mammograms are often available.

Overall, she said, breast cancer screening is "a more normal type activity for women to undergo" these days, whether a woman is black or white.

Noting that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Halaharvi could not refrain from dispensing additional advice: "Know your breasts; know what's normal for you".
